ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

The first modern genocide took place in Armenia. The Turkish killed two million and a half people from Armenia who lived in Turkey. One of the reasons was that the Armenians had their own language, alphabet and religion. The golden age for  Turkey wash in the 16th -17th centuries but during the 17th century the Turkish empire declined, and some of its colonies became independent.
The Armenians claimed for independence, but instead, the Turkish killed 200.000 of them between 1895 - 1896.
In 1908 some Turkish people called  “The Young Turks” carried out a coup d’état in Turkey, and later on they got the power. In 1909, 30.000 Armenians were killed to claim that Turkey was a nation with its own culture. Some months later, Russia wanted to conquer Turkey. They started entering Armenia. Consequetly a lot of Armenians were killed by the Turkish because they thought that the Armenians would become Russians’ allies during that war.
In 1915 the Turkish planned to extinguish the Armenians who lived in Turkey. Between January and April the Armenian soldiers who fought in the Turkish army were expelled. They had to work in a battalion but they were also killed.
Between May and July the Armenians who were fighting in the Turkish-Russian area were killed. Few survived and they were taken to a concentration camp although they were told to be taken to Neir-es-zor. A lot of children became slaves of rich Turkish families.
Between August and July the Armenians who were still alive were killed.
Today, the Turkish say they didn’t kill the Armenians they say that had died because of the war.
